City Politics And Following A Dream!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 5, 2011 by dianaswonderworks

Well, the yard sale is over! the original plan was to yard sale daily until, all my stuff was liquidated or it came time to pack to move. Apparently the city has other plans. Yesterday a man from the city came by to notify me that yard sales can only be done 3 days out of every month. Since this weekend was the first weekend of the month and moving isn’t for a couple of more weeks, no more yard sales for me! It amazes me, no matter what is on the books that in an economy as stressed as ours is here in the United States, that simple things that could make some people’s lives a little easier, become a major deal to a township!

So many people are trying to do the best they can to just make a buck, to pay a bill, buy something they need, or in my case just have gas money to move. You would think that there would be a little lei way to let people get by. It is not a crime, it isn’t hurting anyone, it really is of no consequence to anyone  at all. it is a shame, and anyone who is in the local governments should be supporting people who are trying to keep their homes, pay their bills and make ends meet. Surely, that time spent taking up my garage sale signs, and coming to my home could be much better used. Maybe that time could have gone to fixing a degrading road, or investigating meth labs or something that really has a negative impact on our society. It is a shocker, so with a horrendous storm approaching yesterday, we tore down the yard sale and I am hoping to do one last splurge at the flea market this weekend and donate the rest. I am done with it, my back is gone, lower and upper, I am in a lot of pain. No amount of money at this point is worth me being crippled for any amount of time. I still have loads of packing to do and then moving. So this chapter is coming to a close for me as well.

No lottery jack pot for me as yet, but I am confident it is on the way!

No new art in the works either, too busy with everything else. But, the itch is getting stronger, it is very likely that if I can get my back to calm down, that very soon I will do at least one more before I actually move. The stress is piling up, and it has no where to go, I am getting irritated and tired. So, getting my body back in shape would be a wonderful treat on many different levels. Hoping you are having a wonderful week, sending my love to all who are suffering at this time, and all who are not, diana

Art Sale!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 25, 2011 by dianaswonderworks

Been a while since I checked in, I have been busy doing yard sales and art sales for the last couple of weeks. Things are not going as well as I had hoped. The weather has been a bit of an obstacle, major storms and high winds have made it difficult the last couple of days to be open for business. Those days have been filled with errands, house work and now working on a children’s book with my friend, Sherry. She was very inspired by the srtwork I have here and thought it would make wonderful illustrations for a child’s book. It has been uber busy the last few days for sure! I keep up my hopes that things will get better exponentially, so that my move will not be delayed or that I will have to resort to selling what little furniture I have left just to make it there. So, if you are reading please say a prayer or send me some positive thoughts to carry things through. I do appreciate it.
Online shops are just dragging along and my opinion of them is not what I perceived. It seems, lots of people look, no one is buying. It only ends up being a money maker for the online store sites, for me, it is only something that is eating up my cash (and just in case you don’t already know, I don’t have any of that to spare). It is highly likely, that I will have to let most of them go, it just isn’t worth the investment. I hear for some it works out, and I still have a few more tricks up my sleeve, once I get settled in after the move. Just thinking out loud, if you have any pointers, I would love to hear them, so do share.
Obviously, since I am still broke, the lottery jackpot is not mine yet. I await patiently for that wonderful day! Drawings are tonight, so send me some happy thoughts, I am wishing the same for you, if you play of course. If you do not indulge in the lottery, I still am wishing you good fortune and luck in whatever venue you are pursuing. In this day and age, I believe we can use all the luck and help we can get. It is about time, we quit relying on some one else to create our luck, it is ours to make. Leaving up to some one else, just guarantees, that we won’t have any. They will be looking out for their own best interests, unfortunately, that will many  times rule out helping some one else. I am not condoning or promoting selfishness, not by any means. We must always look to give and help others in any way we can. What I am saying is that your destiny is only going to explode in front of you, if YOU make it a priority, we all have our own. Others should be looking to bring their destinies into focus, but always freely help others to achieve theirs as well. Remember who you are, what drives you, and the one thing that makes your life happy! Then use that to create a perfect place for you and everyone around you.
It is a chilly day, and being a Friday, with a not so pretty weather outlook for the weekend, the yard sale is busy. Not as many buyers, just yet, but lots of lookers. It is time to post my add on Craig’s list too, to help drum up some more business. Plus spending some time working on the book would help my day go quickly, and happily as well. So with lots of love, and happy thoughts for you, I must bid you adieu, diana

Car Shopping Anyone?

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , on January 4, 2011 by dianaswonderworks

Well, still staying busy. Worked at the gallery today, pretty quiet, made a couple of small sales, hoping for more this week for sure. Anyway, just a note to you all out there with online shops. The scammers are at it again. I got an e-mail from some one on my Zibbet store, he was inquiring about one of my paintings. He requested I send him a money request and from there it got crazy. The good news is I learned how to do that. I had never done a request for payment in Paypal, so I learned something that will most certainly come in handy in the future! Very cool, guess that is how people sell on Facebook and other such sites, good to know. Anyway, back to my buddy, he starts with how much he loves the painting. Then how he is a collector, and is a sailor. From there, it is how he is at sea, and if he sends me extra money, will I pay for the storage for this painting. I check out the address for shipping, it is UCLA, yeah, the university. Whatever, I took back the money request and sent him an e-mail declining his offer to purchase. So, just a note to be wary, they are up to getting money from every venue possible. Spread the word, and keep your heads clear.

As for the lottery, tonight is a drawing, and I am certain to be winning soon. So this evening, I spent going online and picking out the cars, yes plural, I am going to buy, and shopped for one for my youngest as well. The oldest child of mine I think is good for vehicles, she may need some down payment for a home or business. Anyway, the cars are picked, down to the colors and extras. Now it is time for me to decide where I want to live, coastal, I am pretty sure, and need to be close to a good gallery for me as well. If anyone has any pointers, would love to hear them. Give me an idea, where you think my art would do well. I mean it is selling here, and this is no big city! Would love to hear your thoughts!

Been working on some new art, hopefully this weekend while I am off, I can spend some time downloading everything to give you some more good art. Hoping your New Year is off to a great start. I think this is going to be a great year, for me for sure. I do hope it is even greater for you! Sending out my love to you all, diana

Okay Take Another Spin!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , on October 16, 2010 by dianaswonderworks

Well, on Wednesday I went to a job interview. It went great, they even had me do a couple of cold calls to see if I could do the job. It was and office for an Air-conditioning service, so they were looking for some one to call customers to see if they were looking to have their units cleaned and checked. Both gentlemen who interviewed me, said I did great, I was their favorite, they even gave me their business cards to call them back if I did not hear from them by Friday! Well, Friday came along and at 3:40 pm I called them up, since I had not had any word from them or the temporary service. One of them answered the phone, and said they were at that very time discussing who they would be hiring. Could I call back later at five pm or just after. Now, I know it is Friday and most offices close at five for starters. I also know that, this answer is not nearly as positive for me as things went at the original interview. To be honest, after being out of work so long, and being given the run around at least a hundred times already, I did not call.

The first reason I did not call, is technically, I think they were new to this temporary service thing. I am supposed to be contacted by the service about work, it is not only an etiquette thing, but a policy thing. They sent me to the interview, and they call me if I get hired. I did it the first time thinking I might get a warning, prior to starting work on Monday, to get things at home in order, and not have to be rushing around last minute getting things done to go to work.  Instead, I received yet another, blow off, a kind one ( thank you for that), but a blow off none the less. Needless to say they did not call me back either. Until Monday, when I am sure they will be notifying some one, unless they have already chosen and it is some one else. I have decided, not to take it personally, when the right employment comes along, I will get the job. Until then, this one was obviously meant for some one else.

I feel like I am trapped on a game show. There is a big wheel to spin, and all the slots are filled with jobs, some are for my artist gifts, some are self-employment work, some are office jobs, some pay a lot, some pay little, some are long hours, some just part time. One slot however, says “SORRY” and that slot means no job for you. Continually this man coaxes me, come on spin again, this is your lucky spin, so I spin and every time I get the SORRY, spot on the wheel. The rules are simple too, I can only leave when I get something other than SORRY. But, no matter how times I have spun that wheel so far, all I can get is SORRY. Now, the odds are stacked against this happening, and if there were any way to bet on it, I would be rich and not have to get a job. However this is not possible, and so I must keep spinning that wheel, like a really bad re-make of Groundhog Day, with no end in sight! Lots of love to you all, got plenty of work to do, hope you are having a wonderful weekend, diana

Glorious Sunflowers!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , on October 12, 2010 by dianaswonderworks

Well, I can officially say that I have finally finished my Sunflower painting. I think I am going to name it Glorious Sunflowers. It turned out beautifully, I hope you like it. The pictures on this blog were taken not too long ago, and I am so very happy with the outcome. The sad part will be letting it go, got to sell it, need the money. It has been a long journey with this canvas. I started it about 4 years ago, and ran out of the colors, mostly the yellow. This canvas has moved with me over and over again, waited for me while I worked two jobs at a time, just to be able to afford the paints, and finally for me to dig it out of the closet, and complete the process.

The original plan, at the place I lived at when I started it, was for it to go on the wall in my dining room. I had some Shaker ladder back chairs. I had planned on re-seating the chairs, with red, yellow and green fabric. The Flowers were to look over  my table and guests, that was the dream. My room mate at the time, stole my chairs and many other things from me. For the above mentioned reason, I no longer live at that address. Where I am now, there is no dining room, and definitely no chairs and table to make it happen. So many people who have seen me working on this painting over the last few weeks, have loved this canvas. Everyone says they want to buy it, or knows some one who will. One of my friends, is going to give me an opportunity to put this canvas in a gallery, through a friend of hers. So, keep your fingers crossed, I would love to sell it and have money to buy more supplies to make more, and then sell more. The ultimate catch twenty-two for me!

Now, on the job front, I received a call today. I have a job interview tomorrow, it is a good job for me. At least that is what I think, the universe may have other plans. At two-thirty tomorrow, I will be going through the interview process. I can only hope all goes well. Considering the luck I have been having, I am not going to let myself get too excited. But, it is good and hopeful news for sure. Tonight is also, lottery night, you never know, maybe tonight will be my night! Keep your fingers crossed!

Now, I am going to get to work on some drawings, I think and tomorrow I need to get the jewelry out of the car and begin that process of pricing and designing stands or racks for displaying the jewelry. With any luck at all, these can be in the shop, by the beginning of next week. So much work, so little time. The drawings, I am hoping to do are for some holiday (Halloween for now) cards to be put on my Zazzle account. In my dream world, hopefully I can knock a couple of them out tonight and in the morning. It all just depends on how creative my brain is going to be. After spending weeks on the painting, it may take a while to get back into the swing of things. Sending you my love, where ever you may be, diana

Casualties Of The Recession!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , on October 2, 2010 by dianaswonderworks

Every where you turn any more you hear more and more stories of the recession and how it is affecting people. I find it hard to believe that no real news or help lines are available for those needing assistance. Something, pointers on how to budget, insight for what careers are still big or growing, what to do to hang on to property, how to start a home based business, education to learn how to make the most of a dollar, something to help people, something to show people that our government is still concerned about our economy. It would be nice to know that our government still understands that by saving “We the people”, is saving them too. If we fail, our government will fail too!

In every country around the world, when a society fails, and finds itself impoverished, the government of that country always finds itself at a turning point. This country was based on those kinds of people. People who were tired of being oppressed, misguided and taken for granted. You would think that some one who takes on a position in our government, should know history of governments better than the average Joe. Funny how they seem so uninterested in not only getting to know where the public stands on this issue, but trying to help us fight through this thing! It feels like the politicians made a choice to sink the ship, without worrying about the crew or passengers. Only to find out, the emergency was not so dire and the ship did not need to be sunk. So now they placate the crew and passengers, by trying to say, hey we got this worry not. In the meantime the only thing they got is dibs on the life boats!

I am thinking of starting a series of stories, of everyday people I meet. People who find themselves victims of a sinking ship, terrified, and feeling alone, while their lives spin into oblivion! Everyday people who just want a fair shake in this country, but at every turn are shoved deeper and deeper into the pits of poverty, homelessness, depression and shame. All thanks to a media and government who seem too busy worrying about everything but, the state of our nation! Watch for these stories as I am sure you may be one of those people, or you surely know many, who can relate to this. Everyone deserves to feel connected, and I am hoping this will be a way for those people to feel like they are not alone, and that we together can band together and start making some change for the good in our own lives. Common goals can join people in a movement to change our country, and breath life back into an economy that lies at deaths door! A kind of resuscitation of our financial freedom!

Hoping you are having a great weekend, I am. No matter what, I am not selling my smile out for nothing. Sending out my love to you again, diana

Dreaming Of Sunflowers!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , on September 24, 2010 by dianaswonderworks

Well, still working on the sunflower painting. Been tough, my neck has been really bad lately, but I am off to do as much as I can right now! Wish me luck, I need to gt this one done and get on with something else. It has been a busy day so far, Fridays always are, running to the bank, paying bills, and answering calls, etc… I have some laundry as well to do, and some cooking. I am going to do the art show tomorrow, so I have to get as much done today as possible to be able to spend the day there. I will say my new sign up, on eHow is really going well. Other than the usual online creeps, I am meeting some really nice people. They seem to be very helpful as far as running an online business and just general advice on how the site works. It is really refreshing to meet so many helpful and considerate people in one place.

Business remains slow at this time. But today I am also planning on selling some prints on eBay. I am hoping some will sell it would be nice to make some money this weekend! Also, with fall coming around the corner I am hoping that people will start tier Christmas shopping and all those people that selected items in my shop, as favorites, will actually do some shopping. It would make for a busy, but refreshing holiday for me. it would make me feel like all that hard work was finally paying off. Still no word on a job, nothing temporary or otherwise in the works. i don’t know what they are saying in the news about our recession, but from my perspective and many people I know all around the country, it is still in full running. So many people are finding it it hard to find work these days. It hurts us all. The sooner we as a people can take charge of our lives and financial status the better. It is no secret the people out of work, seem to be in the middle class, and with them out of work, all facets of society suffer, they are and always will be the spenders. With no spending everything is crawling along, and that is bad news for more and more of the middle class. Our system cannot survive with only the poor (being the majority) and the rich (being the minority). The rich don’t spend on enough to keep us all working and the poor cannot afford to spend at all. As more and more of our middle class, slides down into the lower class of spending, we will all find ourselves in a great mess! We must support each other, every little bit counts. No one else is going to save us, we must save ourselves!

Hoping you are having a wonderful day. I am staying on top of things and continue to work and hope that things will finally start to ease up for all of us. The weekend is at the door and I truly hope no matter of your circumstances, that you will enjoy the weekend and your loved ones. sending you my love, diana
