Sun Over The Water, Memories of Gatlinburg

Posted in Uncategorized on May 29, 2010 by dianaswonderworks

I just finished the second of two drawings I have been working on the last couple of days. Been a minute since I have been on. Once my mind starts working, it is so hard for me to stop! I have more ideas in the works, probably at least one more sun. They are one of my favorite themes. Suns have for centuries, in every culture been gods, or great themes of art. This is my way of paying homage to them. So many cultures to represent, and also add that modern flair. The back grounds change from modern pop art kind of look to very nature oriented style. As always my love of great colors to create, life, vibrancy and happiness. Hope you love this sun picture, I and thinking as of right now it is one of my favorites.

The other picture is an ode to the town I live in. I am constantly teased about my flair for the sun, but I am living in the mountains. So, as a way of showing my love for the beautiful views here and the inspiration I get from them, I made a little drawing for the locals. It was fun and the first of more, I hope. My greatest difficulty with these themes are that most artist portray them with an Indian spin. I need to find a beautiful way to spin it, so it reflects my joy of them. Be patient, it was my first try. Hope you like it as well, would love to hear some feedback on one or both of them, if you can.

Update on the lottery. I have not checked the numbers yet, won $5 on a $1 scratch off the other day. Every little bit helps! The weather is getting so warm, and now the bugs are trying to sneak in the house, and being hot with no where to swim is a bit of a downer. But, I am hanging on to every wisp of wind and every shower and thunder storm, trying to milk as much of a spring for myself as possible. I do love the spring and fall the most. Hoping you are having a wonderful weekend and enjoying the weather where ever you may be. Love always, diana

Transfomer Blow out, Adventures in Gatlinburg

Posted in Uncategorized on May 26, 2010 by dianaswonderworks

Well, it is Wednesday, been a real busy week so far. Monday I went to Gatlinburg, that was a busy day. A friend of mine came out for a visit and we went out to check out the Galleries in the city there. Unfortunately not many shops carry abstract art, and the few who did, most were owned by that artist and only carried their own works. The one shop that did carry many artists and did have abstracts on display is a juried gallery, so it will be a long process, and a bit costly. Minimum $100 a month for a small area, plus 30% of sales. So unless I blow out the gate, it will be a while before I profit. Not sure what I think of that yet. I am trying to weigh out the pros and cons, not looking so good on the pros.

Yesterday a transformer blew out and that left me with no power for several hours. So I got busy finishing a clock a friend gave me. I painted it in my silly abstract style and it will be displayed here today. I also finally got a picture of the notorious top I crocheted. It is quite colorful, I am thinking of making a white one one day. It is really comfortable and girly, I think it turned out quite pretty. Love to hear what you think.

So far nothing is happening in my online shops, which is discouraging. I have not won the lottery or mega millions yet! But, I am struggling to keep up my optimism. I will have to go to work very soon to supplement my income. That really scares me the last job put me into the hospital, for the $700 I made, I am sure my hospital bill will over ride it. The medications alone were $50. I stayed overnight,I am sure I did not come out a winner in that game. It is really difficult finding work that doesn’t hurt more than it helps for me theses days. Being the kind of person who hates relying on others doesn’t help. It makes me feel very anxious. So every day is a challenge to stay positive, on track and hopeful, that some thing great will come my way. Hope you all are well, as always, Love, d

Purple and Flowers, Sea Turtle and Koi Fish

Posted in Uncategorized on May 22, 2010 by dianaswonderworks

Been real busy working and haven’t had a chance to catch up with you. I just finished three more drawings that I hope to sell as signed and numbered prints. They are really cool, I think so any way. Hope you like them would love to hear what you think about them.I did do another sea turtle, have been hurting inside a lot for them with the great Texas oil spill. They are truly beautiful and wondrous creatures. It saddens me to think they will suffer and die due to peoples greed and carelessness. Any way, stepping off of the soap box, the Koi is just my love of sea life in general, they bring such peace. Just watching fish and sea mammals of any kind brings some tranquility to a crazy day. Take a look and let me know what you think, feedback is really helpful to an artist.

As far as everything else goes, I will be going to town on Monday to check out galleries to see if I can display and sell any of my work. Wish me luck, say a prayer or just send happy vibes, whatever suites your belief system. It all works for me. Picked up my numbers today, but haven’t had time to check them yet. Hopefully tomorrow, have to go visit some friends tomorrow, not sure how much I can get done. But I still am waiting for that big lottery pay off.

I hope you all have a glorious weekend. I am going to be very busy, but will do my best to keep you updated on any news in my life. As always, love to you, d

More Fun Paintings

Posted in Uncategorized on May 19, 2010 by dianaswonderworks

I just finished loading some new paintings in my shops and wanted to share them with you. Hope you love them as much as I do. Two of them are different versions of sea turtles and the other is a poisonous blue dart frog from the rain-forest. They are also done on the Alder wood, not many scraps left remaining. I really do enjoy taking those scraps, not big enough to build with and making some use out of them. It is especially important to me because the wood is so very expensive, probably because there isn’t as much of it as other wood. It has such a smooth and satin like feeling to it. It doesn’t need to be sanded much or anything, it is also very strong and is just beautiful to look at.

I had some fun with color as usual, but with the one sea turtle I went to black and white, contrasts are also a great love of mine. The black and white on the wood is just incredibly beautiful, my favorite. As I mentioned earlier I did list them in my shops and can only hope other people love them as much as I do. They are great small art works and will add fun and flavor to any nook or cranny you choose to set them in. If you get a chance just take a look, and I would love to hear what you think of them.

As per the lottery, I find it amusing, I was a slacker yesterday and forgot to get tickets for last night. I intend to be less of a slacker today and get the one for tonight, kind of hard to win if you don’t play. One of those silly things in life! Otherwise all is well, have a few more projects going on again, as usual. I have not forgotten to post the picture of the top I made last week, just haven’t ha a chance to get someone to take a picture of me in it! It will be soon I promise. As always lots of love to you today, keep smiling………….d

Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, It’s Off To Work I Go!!

Posted in Uncategorized on May 17, 2010 by dianaswonderworks

Well, I am back. Been busy working on some paintings, and I did finish my top. I need some one to get a pic of me in it, so that will have to wait. I did however take a couple of the paintings I finished. They are not the greatest, need to get them in the sunlight tomorrow. But I thought I wold share them with you anyway, excited to show them off I guess. Hope you like them, it was a lot of fun. These are also done on the Alder wood, as was the peacock I did last week. I refuse to let this great wood go to waste.

One is a Blue Poison Dart Frog, from the rain forest and the other is a sunflower with a baby swan, blue jay, and a wren. I think they are both really cute. Kind of my cross between realism and pop and maybe some fantasy mixed in there too! I love my art to be colorful, playful and fun. That is my personality, and it really shows up in my art. Would love to hear your opinion on them. Hope you all had a great weekend, and hoping your Monday started out with fun.

As usual here is my update, so far I haven’t won the lottery, but I am still shooting for it. What a goal, huh? But things are great, staying awake again at night, ideas flying, wishing I had a sewing machine, I have a bunch of design ideas for some pretty clothes I want to make. I will have to sketch them out so I don’t forget them. Worse case scenario, hand sewing will have to be an option, it just takes so long that way! But, I am not scared. As always, much love to you………………d

Life As A Dream

Posted in Uncategorized on May 15, 2010 by dianaswonderworks

Today was a good day, Just a little on the surreal side. It isn’t like anything really crazy happened, it just feels like I have been in a dream state all day. Like an out of body experience, traveling along on a current with no goal or purpose. Several times I tried to get myself out of this funk and do something and nothing comes to mind. This is weird for me, a usual day finds me going one hundred directions at once. For most people this might be overwhelming, for me that is normal. To find myself directionless and unmotivated is completely alien. I think I am slowing coming back as the day becomes late, so maybe this will be a good sign for tomorrow. I need to finish the top I started over a week ago, it just comes down to buttons. I need to post a few more things in my shops online. I would also, like to finish my painting I started before my desire left and became focused on the top and the bracelets I finished.

I am working on waking up, night falls and I wander out of my dreams into reality. Tomorrow will bring me back to my crazy, happy space. Listening to the crickets outside and feeling the cool breeze after the storms of the afternoon is energizing me. I am ready to rock and roll! It is a weird weekend too, like not a weekend at all. Feels like Monday to me. I put in a job application yesterday, hopefully I will be getting a call tomorrow. That would be good, to make money again. Just wishing with all the hard work and effort I have put into my home based business, that it was paying off. So many hours and dollars dedicated to creating wonderful, cool, fun and playful things. More hours and dollars to set myself up online via shops and blogging, and it seems to be going nowhere. I am smart enough to know that things aren’t always what they seem, just impatient I guess. I don’t do well waiting for things to happen. I am much better at making them happen. Being online and trying this whole new venue and world, so alien to me is difficult. Kind of like a fish out of water. Time will tell, and my hard work will pay off in the long run, I am sure of it. Just wishing it was now!

The lottery drawing is tonight looking for that big pay off, to really get things jump started. I love Sundays, they always seem so peaceful to me, so hopefully that will put me back on track. Tonight, I will focus on making fantasy a reality. Radiate that happy glow, starting to well up inside of me. Grab it and put a magnifier on it, so that glow becomes a beam of light so strong that it will carry me to that world. Once I am there, I can bask in it, bathe in it and share the joy of it with everyone else who wants to feel that joy. I want so much for so many, it isn’t just about me. I know in my heart that we all need encouragement, love, hope and appreciation, that is my goal for myself and all I make contact with. Have a beautiful weekend, and as always, love…………………………..d

Recycling, Jewelry and Lottery

Posted in Uncategorized on May 14, 2010 by dianaswonderworks

Things have been busy as usual. I finished my crochet project, now I have to do some sewing on it and it will be done. I also got busy recycling some stuff around the house and finished some great looking bangles, that I hope to sell. I will post them on here, and would be happy to hear what you think of them. I like them a lot, and the great thing is they are big, so really anyone can wear them. I have big hands, so to all those girls out there who can’t find a bangle in the store to fit. I have some that will. Not to rule out those guys out there that like to wear ladies things, cross dressers and drag queens, these will fit you, without hurting to put them on. So take the time to check them out, send me some feedback or questions. I am always happy to help.

I also started a new shop, so along with my artfire account, and two etsy accounts, I now have an account on zibbet. I am excited to see one or all of them start to really pay off. I have invested a lot of time into my art and crafts. It has been compounded by massive amounts of time getting these sites linked up, it would feel so good to have them become the success I hope them to be. For those of you unfamiliar with these sites, they are online stores for people who love to make things and want to have an opportunity to sell them as well. I have enjoyed the process very much. I find them much more difficult to move however. I am much better selling face to face. There is much to be said about learning computer savvy. Learning as you go can be very frustrating at times, but still very rewarding and exhilarating.

Just got my tickets for the weekend draw, plus I have also started the second chance drawings as well here. On Monday they will be doing a drawing on some of the second chance tickets. I am looking forward to posting exciting news very soon. If you have followed me at all, you know I plan to win the lottery. This blog is about me logging my adventures, with the lottery, business and art career. A journal, not only a way for me to keep track of the ups and downs, but hopefully it will help others. When I do succeed, this can be a guide book of do’s and dont’s. Well happy weekend to all, Love always……………..d
